Resetting / Cancelling a Wizard after a Major Error

There are many cases where a user may receive a Major Error in the middle of a wizard (QB Add, Correspondence, etc) and once they receive this initial error, they continue to see it and may not be able to continue using the wizard. Usually, if only one user is receiving this error, the error can be cleared out by canceling the wizard; however, the problem is that the user generally will not be able to cancel the wizard due to this Major Error.

In these cases, the user can use a URL to manually cancel the wizard. Please follow the example below to see exactly how to accomplish this.

Step 1

For example, say the user selects the Correspondence Acceptance wizard, and this brings them to the first step where they can either select a specific client or choose all. For this example, let’s choose All Client/Employers.

Step 2

When the next screen appears, the user might see an error like the one below (this could occur during any step in the wizard, but it most commonly occurs after selecting the client(s) or before the final step of the wizard.)

Step 3

From here, it’s best to clear the browser cache/history/temporary internet files (in IE, this is found under Internet Options.) Once this is done, use the link provided below and modify it to include your site’s sub domain. In other words, replace the “{admincode}” with your admin code, as shown below. For this example, the admin code is “training.”

Step 4

Next, find the wizard number you are working in from this list:

  • 7 Coverage Change Wizard

  • 12 AddUser
  • 13 Plan Transfer Wizard
  • 14 Premium Disbursement Wizard
  • 15 Scheduled Invoice Generation Wizard
  • 16 Client/Employer Invoicing Setup Wizard
  • 17 Data Archive Wizard
  • 18 Assign QB Groups to a Department
  • 19 Broker Add Wizard
  • 21 Sponsor Transfer Wizard
  • 22 Additional Employee Dependent Wizard
  • 23 Manual Letter Wizard

Because this example uses the Correspondence Acceptance wizard, we referenced the list of ‘wizard numbers’ and found that this wizard is number 25.

Step 5

Replace the XX part of the URL with this number.

Step 6

Press enter to load this URL. You will be re-directed to the home page.

Step 7

When this is done, the wizard will have been cleared and the user may try his or her request again. So, for this example, the user would go back to the Correspondence Acceptance wizard and select All Client/Employers again.

Note

Sometimes the URL may re-direct the user to a login page, especially if they closed their browser or cleared their history; if that happens, they need to login and then load the URL again.

The important thing is that the URL takes them directly to the home page.
